Six Months Old

Can you believe that Maddox is already six months old? Since I'm so late posting this, he's actually closer to seven months. Time has just flown by! It seems like just yesterday that he was born and yet it is hard to remember what life was like without him. He has just filled our lives with so much joy.

We went to the doctor for his six month check-up on August 20th. We had to wait an hour in the waiting room (I guess because of flu season), but Maddox was such a trooper. He just sat in my lap and looked around the entire time. He never even made a sound! He is such a good baby! Once we went back to the room, they weighed and measured him. He was 26.5 inches and 15 lbs 12 oz....a growing boy! He was just as happy as could be until the nurse came in and gave him four more shots. Bless his little heart, he was such a trooper. He cried of course (and Mommy just about did too) but he recovered very quickly and was back to his happy self before too long.

We had his six month pictures made at Botanical Gardens about a week ago and I can't wait to get them back. I think we got some REALLY good ones! At least I hope we did!

It is amazing to see how much he has grown and changed in such a short period of time. It seems like he is learning something new everyday. He is fascinated with his hands now and has begun clapping a lot. He loves to pat his hands together. He also loves to reach out and grab whatever is within his reach. Of course whatever is in his hands usually goes straight to his mouth. He is still fascinated by ceiling fans and he just loves to watch them every chance he gets. He has begun sitting up by himself. He is still a little wobbly, but he is getting better every day. He loves to sit in the bumbo seat and play with his toys and watch his Baby Einstein dvd. He also LOVES his jumperoo. He just squeals with delight as he jumps up and down. He is also eating three meals of baby food a day. Although he enjoys his baby food, his bottle is still his favorite. As soon as he spots it, his eyes are glued to it. I have to hide it from him when I pack his bag in the morning or else he won't want to wait for it. He also loves to play on the floor. He's not crawling yet, but he does scoot around on his tummy. He tries to get up on his knees, but he isn't quite able to use his arms to push himself up yet. I'm sure it won't be long until we are chasing him all over the place!

Baptism

I think it's about time for a long overdue update on my sweet little Maddox. Things have been rather hectic since I started back to work, and I haven't given myself much time to update the blog, but I am hoping to change that soon. I mentioned before that Maddox was baptized not too long ago. His gown also turned out great and he looked so handsome! I was very happy with it...for a while there, I thought it was going to kill me, but I am so glad that I did it because it is so much more special to me now.

His baptism took place on August 2nd at the 11:00 mass at Holy Infant. Maddox was so well behaved during the whole service. He just sat on my lap and looked around the whole time. When it was time for him to be baptized he did great, except he got a little upset at one point. Father Bill got a little carried away with the holy water and some of it ran all into his eyes, which of course upset him, but once I got him upright he was perfectly fine. Uncle Scott and Aunt Jess stood with him as his godparents and we are so grateful that they accepted that role in his life. Maddox loves them both very much!

We were so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family come to share Maddox's special day with us. We all went back to our house afterwards for lunch and it was so nice to spend time with everyone. We appreciate everyone coming to show your love and support for Maddox. We also want to thank everyone for the sweet gifts you gave to Maddox. They were completely unnecessary, but will be treasured keepsakes. Maddox is so blessed to have so many people in his life that love him unconditionally.
