McWane Center

We had a great time this Spring Break! We had some relaxing days and we also had some fun too! We made our first trip to the McWane Center with my friends Kimberly and Lauren and their little ones. Maddox had a great time and was worn out by the end of the day!

Playing a song on the giant piano...

Checking out the fish in the aquarium...

Pretending to drink the water from the water table...he thought this was so funny!

Best group shot of the all the kiddos I could get.
(Maddox, Kylie Grace, Matthew, and Tyler)

And then of course there was lots of silliness too. Lauren was entertaining them and they thought she was soooo funny!

Two Year Check-up!

I can't believe my sweet baby is already two years old! It is amazing to see how much he has changed and grown in a year's time. He is a great big ball of energy and he is talking so much now. He will say just about anything you ask him too and he has an incredible memory. He knows what kind of car everyone drives, which way to turn to get certain places (and believe me, he lets you know to go that way), and basically just soaks everything up like a little sponge. He is loving school and all of his little friends. His best buddy this year is Henry and his teachers even say that whichever one is still asleep at the end of nap time goes and wakes the other one up to go play. He also claims to have a girlfriend, Claire (who he affectionately calls "Claire-bear") and he usually lets us know who gets in trouble at school and has to go to time-out (unfortunately sometimes he is on that list), ha! He just amazes us every day and we are so blessed to be his parents. He is definitely one of a kind!

We went to the doctor today for his two year check-up and he is still growing like a weed! He weighed in at 31 pounds and is 37 inches tall. He is a pretty big kid for his age (not sure which gene pool that's coming from right now, but I figure that will change at some point, just looking at Blake and me). We didn't have to get any shots at the doctor today which is always a relief. I know they are for his own good, but I hate having to see him get shots! They did prick his finger though and boy was that a bloodbath. He pretty much flipped out and try as I might to restrain his arms, he's a pretty strong little guy. Needless to say, the bandaid wouldn't stay on his finger and both of us were pretty much covered in blood by the time it was all over with. We were planning on going to the grocery store afterward, but since it looked like we'd been in a knife fight, I decided against it. It is amazing that so much blood can come from one little poke! Overall, we had a successful two year check up!

We can't wait to see what this third year brings!

Mardi Gras

We took Maddox to Mobile this past weekend for his first Mardi Gras experience! For the most part, he really enjoyed it. He was a little leery of the costumes and didn't want much to do with Grandaddy in his indian costume at first. He eventually warmed up and gave him a high five though! He absolutely loved the parade though and was mesmerized by all of the floats and excitement. He also seemed to enjoy dancing in the street to the bands. By the end of the night he had quite a collection of loot which included a ton of stuffed animals. I think someone of every float threw him one...who could resist that sweet little face though?
We had yet another birthday celebration for Maddox while we were in Mobile. I am pretty sure he now thinks that it is always his birthday! We had a few family members over for cake and ice cream and presents, which included more choo-choos and other fun stuff too. I think Maddox could get used to being the birthday boy!

A New Addition!

There is big news in our house...Our family of three is soon going to be four! That's right...Maddox is going to be a big brother! I'm not sure he totally understands yet, but he does know that a baby is coming and he seems pretty excited about it. We are sure he will be an excellent big brother! We are due September 12th (just 10 weeks after our new niece is scheduled to arrive), so it promises to be a long, hot summer! We are thrilled though and can't wait to meet our new little peanut!
