War Eagle

In the spirit of cheering on Auburn's basketball teams, Maddox and I decided to break out his Auburn pacifier the other day and make his daddy a little video to send to him at work. Like I told Blake, if this video is any indication of how Maddox feels about the Auburn Tigers, he's not going to be too happy about it!

Firsts

Here are some photos of Maddox's recent firsts. One day I will get them posted the day they happen. :)

2/25/09--I'm all bundled up in my car seat ready for my first ride in the car to see my new home.

2/25/09--Meeting my older (and much more hairy) brothers for the first time.

2/26/09--My first sponge bath in the kitchen sink. I'm not too sure about it yet.

2/26/09--More pictures from my first bath at home. Mommy and Daddy will get the hang of this eventually!

2/26/09--Here I am headed to my first visit with Dr. Harmon. I was happy to get a clean bill of health, but I did not really like being messed with!

3/1/09--I'm not even a week old yet and I've already had my first snowfall!

3/10/09--My cord fell off so I finally got to take a real bath. I enjoyed being in the water, but not getting in and out of the tub. I don't like being cold and/or naked. Here I am feeling all cozy and clean after my first real bath.

Newborn Pictures

Here are a few photos of Maddox in his sweet little whale outfit. These were the newborn pictures that the hospital took, but we took a few of our own as well.

Baby Maddox is here!!

Okay, again this post is long overdue, but it is true when they say that newborns keep you extremely busy. Maddox Blake Turner arrived Monday, February 23rd at 6:30 am. We were scheduled to be induced that morning, but he decided that he would come on his own instead. We arrived at the hospital on Sunday night (not the best time to go into labor because things are pretty quiet around there) around 7:30. Before heading that way, I wasn't really sure if I was in labor since I had never done this before, but as we made our way to St. Vincent's I was pretty convinced that I was. My contractions were around 6 minutes apart when we left, but by the time we got there they were about 2-3 minutes apart and my water had broken. We got checked in and hooked up to all the monitors and I very patiently awaited my epidural. Well we waited and waited and waited a little more. Things were were pretty bad by the time the anesthesiologist finally arrived a little before 10:00. I had gone from 3.5 to 8 cm in that amount of time and I was in a pretty huge amount of pain. Once I got the epidural though, I was feeling much better (I don't know how people do it without epidurals). At this point, the nurse told us we'd probably be pushing within the hour so we were pretty excited that things were moving along and we had quite a crowd waiting it out in the hospital waiting room (the only people in the waiting room I should add--and they stuck it out all night...thanks for your love and support). Well an hour passed and we were told there had been no change. Another hour, no change. It went on like this for quite a while...until 5:00 am actually when we were finally ready to push. An hour and a half later at 6:30 am, our sweet little boy arrived. He was 7 lbs 11 oz. and 21 inches long--everyone was pretty impressed by his size! He had a full head of dark hair and many people have said that he has my mouth, but he also looks a lot like Blake's newborn picture so we're not really sure who he looks like. He is absolutely perfect though and we are so in love with him. We could not have been blessed with a more perfect little angel!
